All of East Macon is in the First Ward along with an area surrounding Ingleside Avenue running from the Hutchings Career Center on Riverside Drive through Ingleside Village extending almost to Pierce Avenue.

The First Ward is comprised of approximately 72% African-American voters.

Rick was honored to receive 75% of the total vote in the November 2003 general election for Post 2 of Ward 1. In 2007 Rick ran for the citywide Post 1 and defeated an incumbent plus another challenger, garnering 54% and winning without an expected run-off.
